Irelands marriage equality T.V. add

O.K...We know this video has been roaming the internet for awhile but we felt that, as or first post, it represents the feelings of many On the marriage equality issue... Not many people think about how they would feel if they had to have the permission of an entire populace to do what they take for granted every day....being with the one they love. Now, I dont know about you.. but I cant even get my two children to agree on any one topic.... let alone getting the population of an entire country to agree on wether or not I can be married.
This incurably romantic video highlights the feelings of anyone (gay or straight) in love and willing to walk across a bed of hot coals in a pool full of broken glass in order to ask for the right to be with the one they love. A feeling gay people know all too well...
In addition...During California's struggle over prop 8, I had no idea of the struggles going on elsewhere in the world. Heres to the folks in Ireland who are going through there own fight for recognition. We stand with them.

  1. This is a great ad. Far too often, people with privilege are not only blind to the oppression of others, but to their oppressive nature, but this is not the lesson to learn from this struggle. The lesson to learn from this struggle is that in all struggles for justice, history's lessons are quickly forgotten. Let us prove that lesson wrong shall we?

  2. Bryan, that is a great ad. I'm surprised no one in the USA has remade it for the upcoming elections. Sounds like a project for your friend Sean Chapin!

BTW, kudos on the new blog and website!

  4. It's Tracy. This is amazing! Just completely brilliant. It conveys such a huge message that would be so hard to explain otherwise in just a few minutes. I love it!

  5. Wow! What a powerful message. It should be shown in every state and every country whenever this issue comes up. It may not sway the committed bigot, but it might enlighten those sitting on the fence...enough to vote in favor.

  6. Hey Brian, It is a great ad and I for one am proud of how positively it has so far been recieved in our little country here. It would be great to see it on the TV here but it hasn't aired yet - it's just doing the rounds of the internet at the moment. Still, it does indeed convey a strong message for all us Irish gays campaigning for Marriage Equality. If you're interested in finding out more http://www.marriagequality.ie is a mine of information :)
